Union KC Soccer Club’s Pre-K through 1st grade Recreational Soccer Program aims to provide a fun and safe environment where players can develop their soccer skills, learn the game, and cultivate a lifelong love for the sport. To encourage lifelong love of the game the focus is on player development and enjoyment, striving that each child has a positive and enriching experience. The Union KC recreational program provides players with a pathway to the competitive program through the values and training techniques.
Pre-K and Kindergarten age groups will play on Saturday mornings at Paragon Star. Their game will be hour long session split between fun activities and then a 3v3 scrimmage. There will be an optional clinics on Tuesdays for more touches on the ball and fun!
1st graders will train on Tuesdays at Paragon Star. They will then have a 4v4 game on Saturday
Season-long, age and stage appropriate, Play-Practice-Play, games based curriculum provided to coaches on a weekly basis. The curriculum will focus on the development needs of a player in a fun and educational way.
Uniforms will be provided. In your players registration, a question will be asked to gather sizing information. Uniforms will then be distributed to the coaches prior to the first game. Families will be responsible for purchasing shorts, socks, shin guards, and cleats. Shorts and socks can be purchased from the Union KC Fan Shop.
The volunteer coach will be responsible for communicating with their team weekly. Their main responsibility will be running training sessions and games. A good coach has the ability to communicate ideas to their players in a way that the players understand and can execute. If you enjoy working with kids this is a great opportunity to give back to the community.
The coaches will receive weekly emails from the Program Director with explanations of the activities and main focus. They will also have the opportunity to attend coach education sessions to help them feel more comfortable with their team.
To help the coach, the team manager will be responsible for keeping PlayMetrics up to date, finding a game facilitator and organizing a snack rotation.
